Heron’s Reach Island is ideally positioned for outdoor enthusiasts to access the Huddersfield Narrow Canal and Pennine Bridleway. Saddleworth also benefits from regular train services from Greenfield Train Station to Huddersfield, Leeds and Manchester Piccadilly, and both the M60 and M62 motorway networks are within easy reach.

Saddleworth is a collection of villages which are steeped in history, with each village holding its own charm and community spirit together with annual customs and traditions, including the Whit Friday brass band contest, Rushcart and Yanks Weekend.

Greenfield boasts a range of independent shops, pubs, sporting clubs and the Tesco Superstore, together with green open spaces including the picturesque tourist destination of Dove Stone Reservoir.

The neighbouring village of Uppermill is the largest village and is well known for its attractive High Street and historical buildings. Overlooked by the Saddleworth Viaduct, Uppermill is home to a number of independent shops, cafes, wine bars and pubs.
